Review: Hot on the heels of their collaboration with vocalist Ann Saunderson, the other half of Detroit producer Kevin, Lapsus owners Supernova veer back into deep, pensive house. 'Suite 58' achieves that rare feat of combining tough tribal house with musical elements. The track's piano is so mournful and ethereal it would make the Cocteau Twins sound like gabba-loving hooligans, but the combination of warbling bass and heavy drums ensures it'll work on the dance floor.

Beta band three eps. The word that always springs to my mind in describing it is 'eclectic', as it contains elements of alt/indie rock in general, but also folk, to some extent, and hip hop (including samples), all with a distinctly lo-fi feel to it. Overall, the closest comparable artist is probably Beck, another notoriously difficult to classify genre-hound.

Tiger Stripes makes the original sound even clubbier and it builds up to a buzzing bass climax as it accompanies the ethereal melodies. Now appearing for Spain's Stereo Productions with 'Always Changing', an epic progressive house journey with some razor sharp arpeggios and soaring synth leads over a seriously adrenalized groove; these guys have really got it going on! Second offering 'Avenida 146' shows a bitty more restraint but equally explores some powerful and captivating melodies once again, plus massive strings and a knack for suspense that's sure to cause some epic dancefloor drama!

Review: Following up hot releases by label boss from New Zealand Dilby, plus label staples Mat.Joe and Robosonic, Berlin's Mother Recordings are back with Italian duo Giacomo Godi and Emiliano Nencioni - better known as Supernova. They debut their first release on the label with an awesome two track EP entitled The Joy. Featuring the tough and bumping funky house energy of the title track (complete with mandatory diva vocals) and followed up by the powerfully looped up disco inferno of 'Reflections' which channels that classic French Touch vibe immaculately.
