Posting this hoping someone knows a complete fix. I bought a new laptop Asus Zephyrus M with a 1060 GTX, 8th gen i7, 16 GB RAM etc. I don't know how common this is but my laptop has a 'switchable GPU' which means I can switch between the discrete 1060 GTX and Intel integrated graphics. Kurosagi.

It seems there is some incompatibility between the newer NVIDIA cards and this game because it runs OK when I select the game to be run (it loads and I can play it) with Intel graphics in the NVIDIA control panel. When I, instead, select the NVIDIA GPU it just flashes a black screen and I can't even get to the title screen. I used the most up-to-date drivers as of this post. I also have run this game on my desktop computer with a 570 GTX and it works just fine so I suppose it's only something about the newer NVIDIA GPUs and I have fiddled with a lot of settings in the control panel to no avail.
